Raising Abandoned Lives Foundation (RALF), a nonprofit dedicated to restoring hope and empowering vulnerable populations in Uganda, today announced a strategic partnership with global startup accelerator FasterCapital through its LaunchUp program. This collaboration aims to fast-track RALF’s mission to provide shelter, vocational training, and entrepreneurial support to street children, orphans, and persons with disabilities across Uganda, leveraging FasterCapital’s global network and expertise to scale impact and sustainability.
Addressing a Critical Market Opportunity
Uganda faces a significant social challenge with over 15,000 street children in Kampala alone, more than 2 million orphans nationwide, and 12% of the population living with disabilities. These groups often lack access to basic needs, education, and economic opportunities, perpetuating cycles of poverty and marginalization. The youth empowerment sector is rapidly evolving, with increasing donor focus on sustainable, community-led models that integrate social entrepreneurship and holistic care. RALF’s integrated approach fills a vital gap by combining shelter, psychosocial support, literacy, vocational skills, and business incubation under one roof, positioning it uniquely in a competitive landscape dominated by fragmented services.
Innovative Solutions and Differentiation
RALF’s core value proposition lies in its comprehensive, skills-based empowerment model designed to transform beneficiaries into self-reliant, productive citizens. The foundation offers safe housing, literacy programs in multiple local languages, vocational training across 14 skill areas including tailoring, welding, and baking, and entrepreneurial support with startup capital. Early pilot phases target 30 residential beneficiaries and over 500 community learners, with plans to expand to 200+ residents and 1,000 learners by 2030. Income-generating activities such as soap making, farming, and metal fabrication not only support sustainability but also provide real-world business experience. This holistic model, combined with RALF’s commitment to long-term reintegration and community development, creates a defensible competitive advantage.
FasterCapital Partnership Accelerates Growth
Through FasterCapital’s LaunchUp program, RALF gains access to tailored mentorship, strategic guidance, capital-raising support, and a global network of investors and partners. FasterCapital’s rigorous selection process ensures only high-potential startups with scalable solutions are accepted, validating RALF’s innovative approach and market readiness. The partnership will accelerate RALF’s path to market leadership by enhancing operational capacity, refining its business model, and expanding outreach. The collaboration is expected to catalyze RALF’s transition from pilot to full-scale operations within the next 18 months.

Geographic expansion plans include establishing satellite centers in additional Ugandan districts by 2028. RALF anticipates raising $500,000 over the next five years to fund infrastructure, training equipment, and agricultural development. The long-term vision is to establish RALF as a national model for youth empowerment and social enterprise, influencing policy and fostering inclusive development aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
